STRESS IN TEENS LIFE THIS DAYS!!
Stress is a feeling of emotional or physical tension . It can come from any event or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, or nervous. With teenagers it is a normal part of their lives even in beneficial situation. But it is very common in school going children with lately being from the secondary level.
With stress being a health concern for young children, recent studies have also should that 45.9% of the Kenyan youths are under depression symptoms with 38% having anxiety concerns. This concerns of depression are majory due to the educational pressure from the education system which is very compacted with studies and less holidays and also from he other sides the teachers and parents also expecting good results. With the WHO ranking Kenya the sixth in the case study on depression thus more has to be done from the government to the private stakeholders and the parents on this issues of stress on teenagers.
Teen stress is also due to lack of time to play with friends and relax with family members as the parents are either at work leaving them to maids and not concerned about their children's welfare, thus this making the teenagers feeling uprepared, overwhelmed and even abounded thus leading them into stress.
Teenagers also do lack sleep due to the hormonal time shut in the puberty hormones this causing stress and not being confatable thus lacking sleep. The early school start time and packed schedule leads to also poor academic performance, bad behavior and thus more is needed to be done.
Their relationship with girlfriends and boyfriends with the issues of sex also cause stress as boys and girls would requir sex with force this affects the teenager both in the mental health and also stress issues.
The ways to know if you teenager is under stress is by looking at his or her behavior changes and signals of expressing stress is they can’t sleep or are getting to bed later than usual
seem fatigued, disengaged, panicky or down are saying they’re tired all the time, have headaches or stomach aches
are feeling irritable about themselves or others around them are having trouble concentrating are avoiding school aren’t being themselves aren’t eating very well
are staying in their room a lot on the weekends when they usually would be out with friends. If you suspect your child is stressed, talk to them to try and determine if something is going on. If you can identify why they’re feeling stressed, it will be easier to help them address the cause and manage their stress appropriately.
Thus the Government in conjaction with the ministry of health should Also to join hand with the ministry of education to give schools counseling departments which should save the students issues. Also holding campaigns to address this issue also helps the citizens understand more about this issue in their children and work to prevent or treat it.
