List: Countries that will cross over to the New Year first and last

In the midst of a pandemic, people around the world are eagerly waiting to say goodbye to what has been a tough year to most and welcome a new year with renewed hopes. Traditionally, the countdown to a new year begins just before midnight across the world. But sadly, not everybody will be ushering in the New Year at the same time. According to the Gregorian calendar; almost all the countries of the world celebrate New Year at an interval of 364/365 days on the 1st of January every year. This is due to differences in time zones. In some parts of the world, people will have to wait as long as 20 hours before they could jump into celebration post-New Year’s Eve. Kenyans, for example, will cross over to 2022 at exactly Friday midnight.
